Daniel Hegarty is a Nottingham based rider who currently competes in the National Superstock 1000 Championship one of the most exciting key support classes within the British Superbike Championship or BSB.
Dan’s career began at the Derby Phoenix Motorcycle Club at the age of sixteen when in his first season of competitive racing, Dan won the Novice Trophy. He went
on to progress with Derby Phoenix, ending his second year with them in a fantastic 2nd place overall in the Championship riding a Yamaha R6.
Following his success on the R6, Dan then entered the Virgin Mobile Yamaha R6 Cup and during his first competing at National Level, recorded 2 fastest laps, 1 lap record and a podium finish!! Dan’s season was cut short due to injury but he still finished the year in 12th place overall.
During 2006, Dan moved up to the National Superstock 1000 Championship. Over the course of the past three years, Dan has steadily progressed within this class moving from 20th overall in his first year to 11th in 2008 and 13th overall in 2009.
2009 was also beset with financial problems for Dan and his small team, however, despite missing 4 rounds mid-season, Dan’s overall 13th position at the end of the year was an amazing achievement. For his team, this just confirmed Dan’s talent, ambition and drive to continue despite the set backs he had suffered earlier in the year.
2010 is set to be a massive year for Dan. He is already entered to continue within the National Superstock 1000 Championship within BSB. We are also making trips to Ireland in May to compete in the North West 200, and will be debuting at the Isle of Man TT races in early June!! Further on in the year, the plan is also to compete at Scarborough in July at the Cock O’The North Road Races and in September for the International Gold Cup (Olivers Mount) road races meeting.
