Team Hego Racing has now completed our first season in the Metzeler 600 National Superstock Championship. After taking delivery of his new Kawasaki, Dan competed in the Team Green Cross Lane Garage Kawasaki colours in the first few rounds of the Metzeler National 600 Superstock series.
Dan has been working his way back to full fitness after several complex operations on his badly injured arm. Dan competed in several club racing events towards the end of 2010 and earlier this year in a bid to regain his strength for racing. The ambition had always been to compete at the Isle Of Man TT races this year, a goal which Dan did meet and in which he achieved great success. The People's Bike is sponsored by the Isle Of Man government taking a newcomer each year and providing them with the use of their bike at the TT together with full race and technical support. This was a massive privilege and a huge opportunity for Dan which he obviously took immediately!! Dan competed on the Suzuki GSXR 1000 under the Peoples Bike team colours in the Superbike and Senior TT races, he also ran his own Kawasaki ZX6R in the Supersport class with the help of his regular race team. Recording a fastest lap speed of 116.6mph in the first Superbike Race on the Peoples Bike, Dan was the fastest newcomer around the circuit. Unfortunately Dan had to retire in the Senior TT Race due to issues with the rear tyre on the bike. In the Supersport class on his own Kawasaki, Dan recorded a lap speed of 118mph in race two, finishing a very creditable 24th place, he also finished 26th in race 1. By achieving these results, Dan was awarded two Bronze Replicas at a presentation ceremony for all riders. A massive and well deserved achievement following all the heartache of the previous year, togehter with sheer determination and plenty of hard work in the long months since the accident.
As always we thank everyone involved for their continued support for Dan and his racing ambitions.
